Ross Gload is swinging a good bat for the Philadelphia Phillies

34-year old lefty swinging 1B/OF Ross Gload is hurting a little bit right now but he is swinging a good stick for the Phillies this year. Gload has played in 76 games for the Phillies this year and he is 31 of 107 (.290 avg, .850 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 6 homers, 21 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Gload goes up to the plate hacking as he has only walked 8 times this year but he also makes a ton of contact as he has only whiffed 8 times this year. It sucks for both Gload and the Phillies that he’s banged up right now because he was getting a lot of P.T. with Ryan Howard out of action.

The Philadelphia Phillies designate Greg Dobbs for assignment

The Phillies have designated 32-year old lefty swinging 1B/3B Greg Dobbs for assignment for the second time this year to make room on the roster for Chase Utley. Dobbs played in 76 games for the Phillies this year and he is 27 of 141 (.191 avg, .569 OPS) with 11 runs scored, 4 homers and 14 RBIs. Dobbs has played in 443 games in his four years with the Phillies and he is 221 of 845 (.262 avg, .738 OPS) with 101 runs scored, 28 homers, 129 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. I think Dobbs will accept a minor league assignment if he clears waivers because the Phillies would likely call him right back up when rosters expand September 1st.

Danys Baez has been pretty awful for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2010

Blogged under General, Front Page, Pitching BP, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Wednesday 11 August 2010 at 11:16 am

32-year old righty reliever Danys Baez has been pretty stinky for the Phillies so far this year. He has pitched in 42 games (0 starts) and he is 2-3 with a 5.54 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. Baez has given up 47 hits (5 homers) and he has walked 21 batters in only 39 innings this year for the Phillies. The Phillies have been using Baez in low pressure situations and he is still stinking it up.

Raul Ibanez has gotten hot at the plate for the Philadelphia Phillies

Blogged under General, Front Page, Playing Well, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Friday 6 August 2010 at 8:53 am

Amid all of the big injuries the Phillies have endured lately…..Raul Ibanez has risen from the ashes. In his last 10 games, Ibanez is 16 of 34 (.471 avg) with 9 runs scored, 2 homers and 8 RBIs. Ibanez is stepping up when the team needs him the most as they have gotten right back into the race despite the injuries. Ibanez has now played in 103 games for the Phillies this year and he is 98 of 357 (.275 avg, .798 OPS) with 52 runs scored, 10 homers, 54 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. The Phillies need Ibanez to stay hot because he is the best lefty hitter on the team right now with Utley and Howard out of action.

The Philadelphia Phillies DFA Cody Ransom

Blogged under General, Front Page, Bloglockers, Arrivals & Departures by chinmusic on Thursday 5 August 2010 at 1:28 pm

The Phillies have designated 34-year old righty swinging infielder Cody Ransom for assignment. Ransom played in 22 games for the Phillies this year and he is 8 of 42 (.190 avg, .578 OPS) with 6 runs scored, 2 homers, 5 RBIs and 1 stolen base. The Phillies needed Ransom’s roster spot for the newly acquired Mike Sweeney. If the Phillies miss Ransom at all they are in big trouble.
