23-year old lefty swinging RF Domonic Brown is cooling off after a hot start to the season. In his last 11 games, Brown is 5 for 35 (.143 avg, .507 OPS) with 2 runs scored, 1 homer, 4 RBIs and 1 stolen base. He has played in 20 games overall this year and he is 16 for 67 (.239 avg, .719 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 2 homers, 9 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. The Phillies were hoping that Brown would help replace the offense that the Phillies lost when Jayson Werth signed with the Nationals but that just hasn’t worked out so far this year.

Raul Ibanez has been awful so far this year for the Philadelphia Phillies

38-year old lefty swinging LF Raul Ibanez has been downright terrible for the Phillies so far this year. He has played in 25 games for the Phillies so far this year and he is 14 for 91 (.154 avg, .446 OPS) with 10 runs scored, 1 homer, 10 RBIs and 1 stolen base. He has already whiffed 27 times already this season. 27-year old righty swinging outfielder John Mayberry could start cutting into Ibanez’ P.T. if he doesn’t start to pick it up with the bat. Mayberry has played in 18 games for the Phillies so far this year and he is 10 for 32 (.313 avg, .874 OPS) with 3 runs scored, 1 homer and 3 RBIs.

The Philadelphia Phillies need Jimmy Rollins to get his act together

31-year old switch hitting Jimmy Rollins needs to get his act together if the Phillies are going to catch the Braves in the A.L. East. Rollins has been gimpy this season dealing with quite a few injuries but he’s healthy now and they need him. Rollins has played in 73 games for the Phillies this year and he is 72 of 299 (.241 avg, .690 OPS) with 39 runs scored, 6 homers, 33 RBIs and 15 stolen bases. The Phillies need Rollins to step up soon as time is running out on the 2010 season.

Raul Ibanez is off to a slow start for the Philadelphia Phillies

Starting LF Raul Ibanez is going to be 38 years old in a couple of months so the Phillies are hoping that he’s just off to a slow start and that he is not nearing the end of his career. Ibanez has played in 11 games this season for the Phillies and he is 7 for 40 (.175 avg, .550 OPS) with 5 runs scored and 5 RBIs. I think that Ibanez will step out of his funk soon because he is just too good of a player. After all, he did crank 34 homers last season for the Phillies.

Jimmy Rollins needs to pick up the pace for the Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies need starting shortstop Jimmy Rollins to pick up the pace with the bat. The former MVP of the National League is having a hard time hitting his way out of a paper bag right now. He has played in 72 games for the Phillies this season and he is 67 for 316 (.212 avg, .584 OPS) with 42 runs scored, 6 homers, 29 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. The Phillies can’t bench Rollins because they don’t have anyone to replace him with. The only thing the Phillies can do is drop him in the lineup and hope Rollins has a big second half of the season.
